ABOUT SARUM SADDLERY

Who are we?

Hello, my name is Fran and I started Sarum Saddlery in January 2023. I am based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, I am a qualified and insured Saddler with the Society of Master Saddlers and a qualified and insured Saddle Fitter through the International Academy of Saddle Fitters (LANTRA accredited). I also hold my City and Guilds qualification for flocking.

I am also a trainee member of the Society of Master Saddlers, working towards my City and Guilds saddle fitting qualification with the SMS.

What we do?

Saddle fitting for existing saddles or we will also help source saddles for customers. We hold a small stock of secondhand saddles.

Bespoke leather work including made to measure bridles and tack, dog collars, leads and other leather goods.

Repairs, including tack repairs and saddle re-flocking. I also repair other goods such as bags and even cricket gloves and pads!

Bridle fitting for existing bridles or as part of made to measure.

My backgound

I have always had a passion for horses and started riding as a child. I spent every moment I could at our local riding school and I have been lucky enough to have my own horses. I have always known I wanted to work with horses, I left school and went to an agricultural college to study Horse Management. On completing this I started an Equine Science degree, which led me to Newmarket where I worked in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory. I moved back to Salisbury in 2013, where I continued to work in the scientific industry.

When the pandemic hit, I decided it was time to combine my love of crafting and for horses, and started training as a Saddler at The Saddlery Training Centre. I have been slowly building up my business and officially launched at the start of 2023.
